What is your social media strategy?

July 19, 2010 · Leave a Comment

More than likely you are on social media. Maybe its Facebook or Twitter, maybe you have made and posted a Youtube video or two. Regardless, if you are in business, you need to have a social media strategy. Then first thing to ask is “what do I want to get out of this?” Maybe its more business. Perhaps its more sales or appointments. Maybe you are passionate about something. Social media gives you a great opportunity to share the message to a variety of platforms and people.
If you don’t have a social media plan, you may find that you are spinning your wheels. You will also find that your posts are often sporadic, and inconsistent. Clear written goals in regards to social media and marketing are the only way you are going to capitalize on the social media frenzy. So, what is your strategy?

Facebook virus scare

March 5, 2010 · Leave a Comment

If you haven’t noticed, there is a virus scare going around Facebook. Changing your password will keep your account from sending out the link. This is a perfect example of why you need to have a virus program on your computer, and have it up to date. Norton and Kaspersky are 2 that I have used and had good results with. This is also a reminder to make sure that you have any important document, photos and video backed up. There are several options available, including online storage, external hard drive, or CD/DVD media. Find more good info at www.myredseo.com

What’s all the buzz about Facebook Fan pages?

February 16, 2010 · Leave a Comment

What’s all the buzz about Facebook Fan pages?

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably heard the buzz about Facebook. Hopefully you have set up a Facebook fan page as well.  Check out the top Facebook fan pages here. The fan page is where you can showcase your business, product or service. By joining your fan page, your fans are inviting you to share all you know about your topic or subject. While a normal Facebook profile has a limit of 5000 friend, fan pages have no limit to the number of fans that it can have.

Once you have set up your fan page, the next step may be even more important. Here are a couple of things that you can do to make your fan page work for you.

1. Update regularly.  Once someone has joined your fan page, they get your updates in their update stream. This means that if you post a link to your new blog post or listing, all of your fans will see it. Make sure that your post is compelling enough to get people to click through.

2. Spread the word! Make sure that you spread the word about your page.

  • Online, via widgets and follow me badges, on your blog, social media profiles and email signature. Yes, your email signature is a great place to let people know where they can find out more information about you or your product.
  • Offline, via print marketing, business cards and voicemail. Voicemail is a great place to market to anyone that calls you.
  • Word of mouth. With so many people on Facebook, just the mention of Facebook will almost always get a response. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, have something in common, and add to your friends and fans.
  • Call to action! Having a phone number or website is more powerful if there is a good reason for the consumer to visit the site.  “Visit my website, www.homesokc.com for your free Home Valuation.”  Make sure that you deliver what you promise, by putting a prominent link on the home page of your site. Other calls to action would be “Follow me on Twitter at Twitter.com/myredseo”  or “Join my Facebook fan page at facebook.com/myredseo
  • Finally, be consistent! Having a fan page, Blog or other social media presence is just the start. Once you establish yourself, you have to update on a regular basis. If your last update or blog post is more than several days ago, the public might assume that you are not concerned with your business, or perhaps you are not in business anymore! This is the opposite of the message you are trying to get out.

Email thoughts and tips, NO @hotpants.com email addresses please!

February 11, 2010 · Leave a Comment

E-mail is nothing new. We all have an email address, (except for about 50% of the people that I sell a computer to at Best Buy) and hopefully we all use email. I run into people all the time who are fighting with their email. The inbox is full, I didn’t get my messages, I can’t get logged in…. you name it, I have heard it. So I thought I would share some email tips with you.

1.If you have a domain name   i.e.  www.myredseo.com…….you have an email (info@hotmail.com) You just have to set it up.

2.This can all be done for FREE!!  there is a 10 minute how-to video on youtube (one of THE Largest search engines on the planet!) In fact there is probably an instructional video of how to do most things. Email me at brad@bradburger.com and I will personally send you information on how to set this up.

Check out the video blog and please leave me feedback! See you soon!! And please, if you are on Twitter, follow me and help me get 1000 followers!

Whats in a name? Search Engine Optimizing your name?

February 6, 2010 · 1 Comment

If you are reading about Search Engine Optimization, hopefully you have made a list of keywords and phrases that you want to be known for. Aside from the page title, and content, your domain name should contain those keywords too. Here is a conversation I had with one of our New Keller Williams Agents, Jay Kreft, with our Keller Williams East Business center.

On Sat, Feb 6, 2010 at 6:37 AM, Jay Kreft <jaykreft@yahoo.com> wrote:

Brad, thanks for taking the time yesterday to meet with me, enough though you didn’t feel a 100%. I enjoyed your passion. I bought several web domains last night and wanted to get your opinion on which one I should put on my business cards.
Once I make a final decision on the name on the cards can we point all of these domains to the main page? I think the two I like best are okcmetrohomes.com and forsaleokcmetro.com. Thanks for taking the time to give me your professional feedback. J
and here is my response….
I love them all!!!  Way to take the initiative! I really like the for sale ones, but they are all great. Way to go! let me know if you need any help setting anything up. Also we could do an email address for the one that you go with for your main site. Actually that is what I am working on today! Talk to you soon!
Take a lesson from a new agent and buy some domain names. Email me for a code to get domain names for about $8 from godaddy.

Setting Up Auto-Notification in MLS

February 4, 2010 · 1 Comment

Hi Brad,
Is it simple to set up to where I receive new property listings that meet my buyer’s criteria without searching through them every day?
Mary

Hi Mary,
I would suggest that you make a search in mls, you can either set it up so that they recieve the search, or where you recieve it and can then send them the listings you want them to see, I have posted a link to a short demo of how to set it up. Let me know what you think.
